Freedom of information

The objects of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the FOI Act) are to give the Australian community broad access to information held by the Government by requiring agencies to proactively publish certain information and giving citizens a right of access to Government held documents (see section 15 of the FOI Act).

Members of the public seeking access to documents held by the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy should lodge a FOI access request with the Department.

More information (including making a request for access to documents) on the FOI Act is available on the Department’s website:

www.dbcde.gov.au/about_us/freedom_of_information

FOI Disclosure Logs

Under section 11 of the FOI Act the Minister, or the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, must publish a disclosure log on its website.  This requirement has applied since 1 May 2011.

The Department’s FOI Disclosure Log lists information which has been released by the Minister or the Department in response to an FOI access request.
