Telehealth trials are expected to begin at two NBN first release sites in Armidale and Kiama early next year.
The trails will focus on high-quality telehealth services for older Australians with chronic conditions. Services will be delivered to the home via the NBN. The trials will be delivered in collaboration with NSW Health, local government practitioners and the primary care providers.
Funding of up to $4 million has been provided to NSW Health to trial the delivery of telehealth services into the homes of older Australians, including veterans with chronic diseases in these two NBN sites. The funding will enable installation of telehealth monitoring units and high-quality videoconferencing systems in both the homes of veterans and aged care patients, as well as in the clinic of their primary health care provider across the Armidale and Kiama sites.
